Mobilize Masks for Health Care Providers Start Distributing Donated Masks to Various GTA Hospitals During COVID-19 Pandemic

[TORONTO, ON., March 27, 2020] – Within four days since they started their masks donation drive, Mobilizing Masks for Health Care Providers, partnering with Carefirst Seniors and Community Services, has been able to collect more than 10,000 masks and other personal protective equipment (PPEs) for hospitals across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). They have already distributed them to frontline health care providers at two hospitals and have another three more distributions scheduled for today.

Deliveries were made to Scarborough Health Network and Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre yesterday and distributions will be made to Lakeridge Health Oshawa, Michael Garron Hospital and Toronto General Hospital today.

Mobilizing Masks for Health Care Providers has a goal of being able to deliver three million masks in three weeks to frontline hospital providers.  In keeping with social distancing and isolation, they are able to arrange for contactless pick ups of masks donations across the GTA and receive monetary donations, with the help of their partners, Carefirst.

By making direct connections with multiple hospitals and frontline health care providers across the GTA, Mobilizing Masks and Carefirst has been able to distribute the donations equitably and in a timely manner to hospitals with the greatest need.

Mobilizing Masks for Health Care Providers continues to plead with our community and private businesses in Ontario to donate their personal collection of N95 and surgical masks or to support them through monetary donations to ensure that our frontline health care workers have immediate access to adequate protection. Protecting our frontline is our best defence – shielding our most vulnerable and protecting our community as a whole.

“Thank you for these donations. Every little bit helps in a critical time like this. ” – Recipient of masks donations
