Mobilizing Masks FAQs

Dear donor,

Our mask initiative is finishing on June 30, 2020. We will not be accepting any further PPE donations after June 20, 2020. Monetary donations will be accepted until June 30, 2020 and will be used to cover PPE purchasing expenses.

We want to express our sincerest appreciation for your continued support and generous giving throughout this project.

  • What will happen to the masks that I have donated?

All masks that we receive will be sorted and itemized under the standard masks classification system - procedural masks, surgical masks, surgical respirators. The procedural & surgical masks will then be sub-classified by their ASTM levels of barrier protection - level 1, 2 or 3.

We will then distribute the masks accordingly to meet the needs of the health care workers.

  • How will you ensure that these masks are going to the frontline health care providers?

We are working to establish contacts in all the hospitals in the Greater Toronto Area.  All our masks will be distributed to frontline health care providers through their direct departmental supervisors or directly into their hands. We are also working with CAA Club Group to establish a pick-up/drop-off system through their transportation services.

  • Who are the health care providers that you are intending to provide the masks for?

We will provide masks to any health care workers who come into direct contact with patients. These can include: physicians and surgeons, nurses, medical social workers, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, respiratory therapists, midwives, front desk reception staff, etc.

  • Do you have any links to any suppliers of masks in Canada or abroad?

Yes. Through our various connections and contacts, we have established some links to masks and other personal protective equipment factories both locally and abroad. We are working with them to gather these PPE in a timely and cost-efficient manner.

  • Can I volunteer in-person to help?

We are mindful that everyone should be practising social distancing right now to decrease the community spread of COVID-19. At this point in time, we are not accepting volunteers in person.  However, if you would like to help us solicit more masks and activate mobilisation efforts - please do so by sharing our website on your social media, calling your friends and fellow businesses.  Please continue spreading the word about our initiative so we can reach our goal of three million masks!
